Capturing The Moment

It’s always difficult to capture the feel of the moment in the right lighting and angle. What more if the event is at night or indoors! The constant change of lighting means that sometimes your pictures will turn out overexposed and vice versa, and with your subject moving all the time, you will want to use a high shutter speed to freeze the moment.

And so, during the Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival last month, I was once again faced with the above obstacle. But luckily my Sony Alpha A200 already has built-in image stabilizer into the body, so using ISO of 1600 and just a “normal” lens is good enough. I only fiddled with the shutter speed dial on my Manual Mode setting throughout the night.

Okay guys. Know what? I lied. I did have more than 1 super favourite photos taken at this event, not only the one posted on my previous post!

Which other ones that are my favourites? Well… this!

I love this pic as well! Just love all the variety of colours!

2008 Sabah Fest Cultural Show

I have quite a lot of favourite photos taken during the 2008 Sabah Fest Cultural Show over the weekend. But if I must choose one favourite photo, then I must say it’s this one:

Reason because.. I guess it’s unique. It’s quite difficult to take creative shots during an event, especially when they move so fast! Manual mode should be your best friend for the night (along with an external flash, which I don’t have yet), and your hands must be quick to adjust the aperture and the shutter speed!

What am I talking about.. of course all you photographers would know that! ;)
